Der Achtzehnte Brumaire des Louis Bonaparte
The exhibition “Prussian Blue” is about the nation. The exhibition rooms of “Raum für drastische Maßnahmen” offered the opportunity to present works on two floors, ground floor and basement.
“A 1000 Oaks Less” (since 2016) and “Roman Quartet” (2018) were located on the ground floor, because they deal with aspects of state representation, such as flags and national symbols. In the cool, dark cellar pieces that are about violence and work, such as “Mothermachine” (2015) and “Shots fired” (2014-15), could be found. The title “Prussian Blue“ refers to the german word for the color of the cyanotypes. Likewise, it brings to mind the role of historic prussia for the development of german nationalism.
